Description
Social skills lesson that teaches students about behaviors that help or hurt friendships to increase their social emotional learning in the area of making and keeping friends. Includes a digital version for use with Google Slides and Google Classroom for digital learning.
Students will sort different gems that have behaviors/words that help or hurt friendships into either the treasure box or trash can, determining whether they are words/behaviors that you would treasure (keep) or trash (get rid of).
This activity takes about 30 minutes to complete with a small or large group. The goal is for students to identify words and behaviors that can help or hurt friendships.
Includes:
- Activity description including instructions/walk through of activity, objectives, materials, guiding questions, SEL competencies, and ASCA standards.
- 1 page explaining behaviors that help and hurt friendships.
- 4 pages of Gems (with different words/behaviors that help or hurt friendships)
- 1 blank page of Gems to make your own.
- 1 page with the treasure chest/trash pictures.
- Black and white version included.
- Includes Google Classroom version, the link to access this resource on Google Drive and instructions for use is on page 18.
